Public Benefit Corp
Our Commitment to Community Stakeholders
Why Working with a B-Corp Matters?
When you choose to work with an aspiring certified B-Corp like Mission Mobile Medical, you're supporting a business that prioritizes people and the planet alongside profits.
Prioritizing People and the Planet
A B Corp is a for-profit corporation that has been certified by B Lab, a global non-profit organization, for its social and environmental performance.
B Corps meet high standards for environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors. They also meet higher legal accountability standards.
B Corps are committed to leveraging their business to address social and environmental problems, and to consider all stakeholders. They are different from traditional corporations, which prioritize financial profitability.
Ethical Practices and Transparency
Operating under a doctrine known as shareholder primacy, most companies prioritize profits — even when those profits are derived from behaviors that extract excess value from clients, create inequality, environmental damage, and social fragmentation.
The failure of shareholder primacy is increasingly acknowledged by leaders around the world. Many are now calling for a shift to corporate governance that prioritizes all stakeholders.
This ensures companies are required to consider the interest of all of their stakeholders — customers, workers, suppliers, communities, investors, and the environment — in their decision making. Put simply: stakeholder governance ensures we have better businesses that are accountable to people and planet.
Our Commitment
When Travis and I decided to start Mission Mobile Medical in January of 2020, we made two big decisions.
First, we decided that although we needed to structure as a for-profit, so we could grant equity to our staff, we would operate as a non-profit, putting revenue in excess of costs into reserves, then use those reserves to provide better than market financing and setting up an insurance pool for our clients. We did, and it works well.
Second, we decided to be an organization who put people and purpose over products and profits. Part of that is in our mission - Building the World's Greatest Place to Work - and also how we operate as an open-book management company, sharing our financials with our stakeholders like a public company and being transparent with our costs with our clients.
Both of those decisions built us deep foundations from which we will grow. Our team is world-class, and our dedication to this work is second-to-none. I'm proud that B-Lab recognized that commitment and allowed us to enter their certification process.
